Business Development Lead, XR & Health Innovation

At Aequilibrium (AEQ), we design and build digital experiences that connect technology and human experience in meaningful and engaging ways. As we grow AEQ Innovate and expand our work in immersive technology, health innovation, and applied research—collaborating with partners across Canada, the US, and Europe—we are seeking a high-energy, consultative Business Development Lead to join our team.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in innovation ecosystems, loves connecting people and ideas, and is excited by the potential of XR, VR/AR, AI, and immersive learning to transform healthcare and human experiences.

With a particular focus on immersive technologies and our VR4Health initiative, you’ll help shape partnerships, identify opportunities, and represent AEQ in global innovation forums through programs like ITEA.

This is a hands-on, individual contributor role with real ownership—working closely with senior leadership, international partners, and forward-thinking organizations to bring emerging technologies to life.


What You Will Do

Business Development & Partnerships

  • Identify, engage, and develop new business opportunities related to XR, immersive learning, digital health, and applied innovation
  • Build and nurture relationships with healthcare organizations, research institutions and universities, innovation hubs, and accelerators
  • Support business development activities related to VR4Health, including consortium engagement, partner outreach, and opportunity qualification

Sales & Opportunity Development

  • Generate and qualify leads through conferences, events, direct outreach, and partner channels
  • Support the full opportunity lifecycle, from the initial conversations and discovery, to coordination of proposals and presentations, to collaboration with AEQ leadership and delivery teams
  • Help articulate AEQ’s value proposition in XR + AI for training, onboarding, and health-related use cases

Conferences & Ecosystem Engagement

  • Represent AEQ Innovate at conferences and innovation events in Canada, the United States, and Europe
  • Actively network, build relationships, and follow up with prospective partners and clients
  • Support thought leadership activities in collaboration with AEQ’s marketing team

Market Scouting & Intelligence

  • Act as AEQ Innovate’s primary market scout, gathering insights across healthcare, education, and emerging XR markets
  • Synthesize feedback from conversations, events, and partners to identify patterns, needs, and objections
  • Translate market insights into clear recommendations that inform product roadmap, pricing, and go-to-market decisions
  • Ensure leadership and product teams stay grounded in real customer conditions without needing to do the legwork themselves

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with AEQ’s CEO and leadership team, innovation, design, and technology leads, marketing, and partnerships teams
  • Contribute to shaping AEQ Innovate’s go-to-market approach and pipeline

Must-have experience

  • 5-8 years of experience in tech/startup for business development, partnerships, and sales
  • Experience with XR/VR, immersive technologies is considered an asset, but is not required. What matters most is a genuine interest in immersive technology, a strong ability to learn quickly, and comfort working alongside technical teams to translate complex ideas into practical, market-ready outcomes.
  • Experience with VR / AR, digital health or healthcare innovation, tech professional services or tech consulting
  • Experience (or strong interest) in working with emerging technologies and innovation ecosystems

Location & Travel

  • Remote-first role, based in Canada, preferably in Greater Vancouver
  • Ability to travel occasionally to conferences, events, or client/partner meetings in Canada, the US, and Europe
  • AEQ hosts in-person team engagements periodically

Compensation & Growth

  • Competitive salary and benefits: $70k-$100k base with further income potential via commission
