About the opportunity
Aequilibrium is assembling a senior Canadian team for a potential large-scale digital experience modernization initiative involving multiple public-facing websites and a substantial existing content estate. We are looking for a Senior Web Content Strategist / Content Migration Lead to help transform a large volume of existing content into a simpler, more useful and sustainable digital experience.
This isn't primarily a copywriting role. We're looking for someone who can develop the content strategy, lead a large-scale content audit, and guide content through a CMS migration. The hourly rate for this role is b/w $75/h-$95/h
What you'll do
- Lead the content strategy for a multi-site, multi-brand digital ecosystem.
- Develop and execute a structured content inventory and audit.
- Establish criteria for what content should be retained, consolidated, rewritten, archived or retired.
- Work with the Information Architect to improve content hierarchy, taxonomy, metadata and findability.
- Define content models and support component-based content design.
- Establish standards for plain language, readability, consistency and accessibility.
- Help develop content governance, ownership and publishing workflows.
- Work with business analysts and technical teams to plan and execute large-scale CMS content migration.
- Help identify opportunities for automated versus manual migration.
- Support URL mapping, redirects and SEO preservation.
- Develop guidance and training for content authors and publishers.
What we're looking for
Strong candidates will have:
- 8+ years of web content strategy, content design or related experience.
- Experience leading large-scale content audits and migrations involving 1,000+ pages.
- Experience with CMS migrations/re-platforming, not simply website copywriting.
- Experience with complex multi-site or multi-brand organizations.
- Experience in government, public sector, higher education, financial services or another regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of content design, taxonomy, metadata and information architecture.
- Experience with plain-language and accessibility standards.
- Understanding of SEO implications of major website migrations.
- Experience developing sustainable content governance models.
- Ability to work closely with UX, IA, business and technology teams.
Especially valuable: experience leading content strategy for a government/public-sector web modernization involving multiple sites and a major CMS migration.
When applying, please include 2–3 relevant large-scale content transformation or migration projects, including approximate number of pages/sites, your specific role and the CMS/platform involved.
